Western Brown Line Area Improvements
Coming Soon. Construction is underway for key parts of the Lincoln Square Master Plan. This is the result of a multi-year community process and historic local investments. At the end, we’ll enjoy an improved plaza and parking lot, better suited for our many community events and festivals, a new walking path with lighting, a protected bike lane, and a more enjoyable walking and shopping experience. As of early December, the Western Brown Line Area Improvement Project is 80% complete.
What To Expect
In The next Few Weeks
December: Work is complete on the Lincoln/Leland curve, under the El tracks, and in the Farmers Market parking lot. All efforts are focused on the CTA plaza, where crews will install concrete planters and brick pavers.
January & February: New street lights and traffic signals installed in the plaza and parking lot, Western, & Leland. Final restoration work on Western Ave south of the Brown Line. Bus turnaround reopens late January. CTA replaces masonry facades on the Western Brown Line.
Spring: Decorative planting throughout the plaza will take place in the spring.
