Western Brown Line Area Improvements

Coming Fall of 2025. Construction is underway for key parts of the Lincoln Square Master Plan and will finish by Fall of 2025. This is the result of a multi-year community process and historic local investments. At the end, we’ll enjoy an improved plaza and parking lot, better suited for our many community events and festivals, a new walking path with lighting, a protected bike lane, and a more enjoyable walking and shopping experience.

What To Expect

In The next Few Weeks

Fencing is up as construction crews are rebuilding curbs on the west side of Western Ave. Businesses remain open and most sidewalks remain available for use. Leland Ave between Lincoln and Western remains temporarily one-way westbound to leave space for construction vehicles to operate. At the end of the project, Leland will remain a two-way street. At the end of this phase, crews will have improved walking access in the Heart of Lincoln Square and built an improved farmers market parking lot.

  • September: Crews repave portions of Lincoln and Leland Ave; Traffic will remain open but temporary lane closures expected; Walking path under El Tracks repaved.

  • October: New pavers installed in farmers market parking lot.
